Within the Travel and Tourism industry the main parts that make up your holiday are the 3 A's; Access, Amenities and Ancillaries. These are the products and the producers of these parts for Access is your transport, whether you're travelling by air, rail, road or sea; Amenities is your accommodation so wherever you're staying that then includes your food and drink whether you are going all inclusive or half board or full board, lastly Ancillaries is your 'extras' which again includes your car hire, insurance, excursions and any other extras you would like to include on your trip/holiday.
This is the Chain of Distribution, Tour Operators at the top are the wholesalers of the business so the main big travel company's which include Thomson, Thomas Cook, Neilson-Ski and many others they're the main big company's which some of them own little company's within them also, these are probably the most used company's for holiday bookings in the summer. The Travel Agents, the retail part of the job are the ones who book your holiday and advertise the company through a shop, this is what the customers would go to, to book a holiday such as; First Choice, Co-op Travel, Thomson again and Hays Travel; Hays Travel is more of an independent travel company they aren't owned by another company and they don't own any others, they're quite a big travel company also.
