Travel and Tourism
Introduction...
This website will describe the Travel and Tourism industries, components and provide examples of Domestic, Inbound and Outbound organisations within them.
Travel is the movement of people for a variety of reason in a variety of ways: by land, by sea or by sea.
Tourismis tourists going away with the intention of returning it can be: a day trip, a longer holiday or a business trip.
The three main reasons for travel are leisure, business and VFR (visiting friends and relatives) all these could be for
recreation; relaxing, cultural events, health, education, active sports, religion, regular trips to holiday home, other holiday and leisure; meetings, mission, incentive travel, conferences, exhibitions/trade fairs, other; or for day trips or longer, short or long distances to see friends/relatives.
Domestic Tourism: UK residents taking trips/holidays in the UK.
For example; A couple are going for a romantic weekend in Blackpool to celebrate their one year anniversary; they haven’t got any children at the moment. They decide to spend their day at Sandcastle Water Park and then have a nice sit down meal at La Fotana, afterwards a night out around Blackpool visiting the different clubs and pubs.
Outbound Tourism: UK residents taking holidays outside the UK.
For example; A group of girlfriends going to Malia for a girly holiday to get away from the rubbish weather in England and
forget about college work for a week.
Inbound Tourism: Overseas visitors visiting the UK.
For example; A Business worker coming from Japan to London for a conference to discuss a new technology product being sold all around the UK.
